A Pandora bracelet should feel comfortable, move freely and leave enough room for your charms to sit and swing nicely. Too tight and it pinches; too loose and it can slide over your hand. The good news is that finding your size only takes a couple of minutes and something to measure with.
What you'll need
- a soft tape measure, or
- a strip of paper or a piece of string, plus a ruler
Step 1: Measure your wrist
Wrap the tape measure around your wrist, just above the wrist bone, where you'd normally wear a bracelet. Keep it snug against the skin but not tight. If you're using paper or string, note where the ends meet, then lay it flat against a ruler to read the length.
It's worth measuring twice to be sure, and measuring the wrist you'll actually wear the bracelet on, as the two can differ slightly.
Step 2: Add a little extra for fit
Your wrist measurement isn't your bracelet size. You'll need to add a little extra so the bracelet sits comfortably and has room for charms. As a general guide:
- Snug fit: add about 1cm
- Comfortable fit: add about 2cm (the most popular choice)
- Loose fit: add about 3cm
So if your wrist measures 16cm, a bracelet of around 18cm would give most people a comfortable fit.
Step 3: Think about your charms
Charms take up space inside the bracelet. A bare bracelet will feel roomier than one that's full of charms, beads and clips. If you're planning to build a well-filled bracelet, you might like to allow a little extra length. If you prefer just a few charms, a slightly shorter, neater fit can look lovely.
It also depends on how you like to wear it. Some people prefer a bracelet that stays put on the wrist, while others love the look of one that moves and sits a little lower towards the hand.
Common Pandora bracelet lengths
Pandora bracelets commonly come in lengths from about 16cm to 23cm, though not every style is made in every length. Here's a rough guide based on a comfortable fit:
- wrist about 14cm: bracelet about 16cm
- wrist about 15cm: bracelet about 17cm
- wrist about 16cm: bracelet about 18cm
- wrist about 17cm: bracelet about 19cm
- wrist about 18cm: bracelet about 20cm
- wrist about 19cm: bracelet about 21cm
You'll find the full table in our size guide.
What about bangles?
Bangles don't have a clasp, so they need to slip over your hand. To find your size, squeeze your knuckles together as if you were putting a bangle on, then measure straight across the widest part of your hand. Choose a bangle with an inside diameter a little larger than that measurement. Common Pandora bangle diameters are about 55mm, 59mm and 64mm.
Buying as a gift?
If you're buying for someone else and can't measure their wrist, try borrowing a bracelet they already wear and measuring it laid flat from end to end. When in doubt, a comfortable fit is usually the safest choice.
